Reviews of Thousand Suns
  • Dani KaulakisMalcolm MacDonald over at DriveThruRPG.com -- (Five Stars. It is, as I insinuated way back at the beginning of this review, an rpg which harks back to a lost style of game design, where the rules are intended as a means to enable the desires and designs of the gamemaster and the players, not to dictate them.)
  • Ian Bohne over at DriveThruRPG.com -- (Five Stars. Thousand Suns reminds me of the original Traveller Little Black Books - simple rules and a basic metasetting to play in. However, in today's world of indie e-publishing many make a claim of simplicity and rich settings. Thousand Suns actually delivers!)
  • Judd Goswick customer review at IPR -- (If Traveller has a chance to grow up using newer and more simple game techniques, this would be the result - and that is HIGH praise indeed!
  • Gridlore on his LJ had some very nice things to say -- (The definitive version of Traveller has arrived. It's called Thousand Suns...Grand armadas sweeping across the stars... intrigues in imperial courts... ancient alien ruins brooding with forgotten evils, merchant princes buying entire worlds, and a time when one man, or one small group, can change the destiny of a thousand suns... if this is the kind of game you want, then Thousand Suns is for you. It lives up to its billing as a toolkit for Game Masters. Already I've started writing a new homeworld type (Spacer, for those who grew up on the family freighter or deep space station) 4 penguins out of 5.)
  • izlear over at RPG.net -- (I would like to just say one of the things I like about the game is the tool box for creating your own setting and that you can actually take or leave even the meta setting. This is really reassuring to me, as I really like world building and sometimes you need some help, this lets you do it and the meta setting is there to jump start you if you need it but you can ignore it if you need to.)
  • Flames Rising dot Com's Flash Fire Mini Review -- (This is the game that sci-fi fans have been waiting for. There are a ton of cool ideas, story hooks and a lot of options for great sci-fi adventure.)
