Rogue Games Updates

Been a busy month. Here is a rundown of what has been going on here.

  • Colonial Gothic 3E: Back from editing and layout begins this week. A lot of work has gone into this game, and I feel it has made it all the better.

  • Settings: Manuscript is done, and the solicit will be finished this week. I will have more on this either at the end of the week or next week. This project is on target.

  • Flames of Freedom: Beginnings: Manuscript is finished and all I need to do is update it for 3rd Edition. Once that is done it goes to my critic circle for them to pull apart, question, and point out problem areas. In the mean time cover creation is soon to be finished as well as solicit information.

  • Flames of Freedom: Shadows Upon the Hudson: This is reaching the end of revision, and once done, it will be ready for commenting and editing. The scope of this adventure is what really has slowed me down. I plan on writing about this soon so that I can share with you how this project has grown. It is a big book, but it is probably one of the best adventures I have ever written.

  • Shadow, Sword & Spell 2E: I would say it is about 65% done. I still need to tie up the endgame chapter, and give the manuscript a good cleaning. Still it is farther along then I thought it was. The big thing with this is cleaning is finding rules needing better explanation and finding the areas that need major rewrites. In regards too the endgame chapter, I am adding more to it, so there is enough for all character types. The merchant prince rules are being added to and more importantly rules for priests and magical characters.

Bringing in New Talent

I have begun assembling a group of writers to help me in a few areas. The first one is to help write the releases I have planned for both games.

The planned releases are such, that there is no way I can write them myself. Having others help me, makes sure I do not fail in trying to support both games.

The second reason I am assembling writers is due to this blog. I want to have more content, specifically for both games. My goal has always been to have game support on this blog that you can use in your games. I have failed at this, and I have taken steps to fix this.

My plan is to have the regular blog content begin at the first of the year. It might happen sooner, but I want to make sure there is enough material in the can so posts happen regularly.

Though I have a growing talent pool, I am looking for more writers. It does not mater if you are new writing, or a seasoned one. There is a lot going on behind the scenes, and if you want a chance to write for one of the two games, here is your chance. Drop me a line and we can go from there.

Future Plans

One of the things the Rogue Games Writer Group has learned is the planned release schedule between now and up until 2020. A lot of the projects on the list are already being worked on. Others will be started soon.

Looking at what is on tap for 2017, it seems Colonial Gothic heavy. The reason for this is simple: Shadow, Sword & Spell 2E is not due out until August/September 2017. Until the new game is on the shelves and ready for you to buy, new releases are on hold. The reason for this is simple: I want all new releases to be for 2E. Once the new rulebook is out, then releases begin.

Releases that are planned are adventures, the long delayed City and World books, and a lot of other projects. Trust me these will be worth the wait.

Conclusion

With Thanksgiving being tomorrow here in the United States, I want to take a moment and thank you for all your support. It is not an understatement when I say that the past few years have been very difficult for me personally. Next to my wife and cats, Rogue Games is one of the things that make me happy.

Thank you for playing the games and thank you for your patience. Next year Rogue Games will be ten years old, and this is due in large part to you.

Thank you.
