Who am I again?

No, I did not fall into a hole. No, I am not dead.

So what happened?

A few things. Life is one of them, but I will not go into depth on that. I have written enough about it already, and I will not dwell on it here. Also, I have talked about it a lot on Grumpy Old Gamers which is the podcast I co-host with jim pinto.

So then what?

Writing.

As many of you know, I signed a licensing deal that brings a new version of Colonial Gothic. The reasons I did this are many, but the key one is this: I wanted to share Colonial Gothic with as many people as I can, and this is the best way to do it.

As you all know, Rogue Games is just me, and no matter how hard I try, there are things I just seem to be unable to do. Like? Get writers and artists who are willing to work with me. Now I have had luck in developing a small group who work with me, but, due to my scale, there are only so many projects I can do.

This is not about money, this is only about the number of hours one person has to create. Any Colonial Gothic release takes weeks, not days to research. This research eats into the work I want to do on a few other things, namely Shadow, Sword & Spell and a bunch of newer, smaller games, I am excited about.

This deal allows me to write Colonial Gothic and have the support I have always needed to get more things out.

Make no mistake, Colonial Gothic at the end of the day, is me. I still own it. I am still in control. Though the rules have changed, it is still the same game that you have known for 12 years. I now have active outside play-testers. I now have rule designers who help bring the concepts you know into these new versions?

Like?

Sanity.

Hooks.

Action Points.

The d12.

Yeah, the d12 is going to be part of the game.

Besides this, I have been putting the finishing touches on my next game: Fairyland. I'll write about the game next week but suffice to say, this is a game I genuinely love, and it is a game that is a personal turning point in my game designing life.

So there you have it that is what is going on.

One more thing, I will try to post more on this blog.
